At 6:30 AM, Isabel arrived just as the sun crested, casting its glorious and colorful pink, orange, and blue splendor across the sky. The 2.5-mile paved Hollywood Beach Broadwalk stretched right along the sand, offering the perfect vantage point to capture the magic. The colorful lifeguard stations along the beach provided great foreground interest for a morning photo if she wanted to take one.
Ocean waves crashed gently, spilling onto the shore. They left behind foamy bubbles that vanished as quickly as they appeared, smoothing the sand behind them. Tiny crabs poked their little pincers, creating little pockmarks here and there. Tiny sandpipers ran back and forth to dodge the foamy water. Isabel took a deep breath of the ocean breeze, the fragrance of life itself, so ancient and primal. She tasted the salt in the air. Seagulls cried across the sky, announcing the brand-new day. Pelicans bombed and dived into the ocean in search of their morning meal.
She began her walk after a short stretch to warm up her legs. Her new routine was paying off; she was losing weight and feeling toned and strong. Her mind felt clearer, and her moods improved greatly. When she first started, she could only go up halfway, then back. Now she can go to the end and back. 5 miles. She was accompanied by a few joggers, walkers, and early morning cyclists. She passed the coffee shop, its intoxicating, alluring scent of freshly brewed coffee and baked croissants wafting. The scent alone gave her the strength to continue on her walk. On the way back, she thought she would stop for a coffee.
