Kindness in Every Cup

Daily writing prompt
What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

I am surrounded by kindness every day. From the moment I wake and stumble into the kitchen to place a coffee pod in the Keurig, I’m reminded of all the living beings who helped bring me that first cup: the person who planted the coffee seed, the picker, the roaster, the packager, and the stock person at the store.

I came into this world through my mother’s kindness: she carried me for nine months, endured a difficult labor, and cared for me with all her heart.

I have received kindness from my teachers, mentors, and steadfast friends, who have stood by me over the years.

I have also received kindness from my spiritual guide, who has offered me serenity and guidance.
