If you had to switch lives with a fictional character for a week, who would you choose?

I would be Jessica Fletcher for a week. I would arrive in New York City and check into a luxury suite overlooking Central Park. My days would be filled with press interviews for my new bestseller and lunch with my publisher. By evening, I would put on my finest evening gown and head to a glamorous Manhattan penthouse gala, rubbing elbows with CEOs, Broadway stars, and old-money socialites.

As the champagne toasts begin, the host, a wealthy diamond tycoon, is found dead in his private study. The room is locked from the inside, and his multi-million-dollar safe has been emptied. The NYPD shuts down the building, and everyone at the gala becomes a suspect. Because I am Jessica Fletcher, the lead detective immediately asks me to help interview the panicked elites.

While the police focus on forced entry and security footage, my sharp eyes spot something unusual. A suspect claiming they never left the main ballroom is wearing a diamond cufflink that doesn’t match their suit. Or rather, it’s a stray diamond earring, hastily stuffed into a pocket during a frantic escape, identical to the set stolen from the victim’s safe. I casually bring up the mismatched accessory during a tense group conversation. Cornered by my flawless logic and the physical evidence, the suspect crumbles and confesses. I wrap up my week by signing a final round of autographs for the grateful NYPD detectives before flying back to the peace of Cabot Cove.
