The Thrill is Gone

Daily writing prompt
Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

I loved spending hours making sappy love cassette tapes of my favorite songs. But as they say, the thrill is gone.
I miss beepers, too. I still remember the excitement of getting a beep while dancing at the clubs. Cell phones feel too intrusive and pull your focus away.
I also miss going to Blockbuster and picking out three movies for the night. Now, with so many streaming choices, I just flip through and never settle on one—let alone three—movies. A Blockbuster movie and some popcorn made for such a cozy date night.
I miss regular phones and the simplicity of the mid-’60s, too. No spam calls trying to sell you Medicare plans and cemetery plots!

Blockbuster was fantastic! Pick out a few movies and some snacks. It was all part of the experience. I remember my dad getting upset with me as I dragged a beat up old telephone wire across the kitchen table during supper, and all of my family haunting each other to get off of the phone 😂
