Behind the Creation

I decided to take an online course on AI filmmaking. Become a Content Creator. Today’s lesson was about cloning yourself and creating different settings. I began with a contact sheet of headshots in different poses. It was 4 AM, and I was still bleary-eyed, mind you, when I took these. I used the contact sheet as reference photos for Gemini AI on Google; it is fast and efficient and came up with these fun, imaginary “what I want to be when I grow up” images.

Important note: I learned that it is best to take pictures with the back of the camera on your iPhone, not a selfie. It made a difference in photo quality. And giving your best AI prompts is equally important to get the image the way you want it.

At 70, I am not slowing down creatively—I am beginning a new chapter.

I’m learning AI filmmaking, writing mysteries, and designing puzzle and coloring books. Retirement, I’m discovering, can be a wonderful time for reinvention.

Some days I feel confident. Other days I press the wrong button and have to begin again. But every attempt teaches me something—and every small success encourages me to keep going.

It is never too late to become a beginner again.

What is something new you would still love to learn?
