If you could erase one trend from history, what would it be?

Do away with all this fake, controlled news. Do away with news stations that lie and deceive the public with made-up truths and dishonest reporting. Don’t drink the Kool-Aid! Where have all the good journalists gone? To those who are cowardly and hiding, remember your commitment to tell the truth and expose the corruption. It is long overdue. Pull up your big-boy and big-girl pants. 

Another annoying trend is that TikTok is not a good place for your kids. I looked at what my patient was watching on TikTok: a man in fishnet stockings dancing. Really? I’m not dissing anyone’s lifestyle, just kids need to be kids. How about the one where they roll over and crush things under a car tire? Parents, where are you? Please. 

I have to say, I do enjoy the crazy memes created by AI; they are hysterical. The latest Mitch McConnell memes make me cry laughing.

I’ll get off my soapbox now.

    Doing away with “fake, controlled news” is subjective. If I narrow this down to which political party a person supports (the “Left” and the “Right”), “fake news” will differ by news agencies, journalists, and content. Wouldn’t it? I’m pretty certain that any social media user has seen both sides decry the veracity of news. I can definitely relate to your frustration with main stream media. I share that frustration with you.

    What I wish is that people in general, would open themselves up to reading news from different platforms, with different political leanings: right, centrist, and left. It gives the person a chance to see different sides to an issue before formulating their own informed decision. Also reading news from international sources that have nothing to lose by truthful examination of events in the United States, is something I find quite helpful, and often illuminating. Seeking news content from social media is something I refrain from, and the commentary on those posts generally devolves into a crazy hate fest. I preserve my own peace of mind by avoiding that rabbit hole.

    I don’t have Tik Tok. I don’t have children. Despite that, I am in complete agreement with you about “kid safe content” and appropriate supervision by parents or guardians over the social media use of their kids. I wish more would be done about violent content and “crush videos” that show animals being tortured and killed. Content that displays abuse of any kind is terrible! And, all the kid predators out in internet land. I wish there was a uniform global law about this, and strong enforcement. Sadly, I will not live long enough to see that happen. Because, I just don’t see it changing. Not in a meaningful way, anyway.
