Daily writing prompt
What’s a book, movie, or TV show that you wish you could experience again for the first time?

I must confess, I am a Star Trek fan from the original series, which premiered on September 6, 1966. More than rewatching the show, I would love to capture the excitement and anticipation of each new episode. You’re only 12 once in this lifetime!

I learned a lot from Star Trek; it was a really progressive show with the first multiracial cast and a focus on cultural inclusion, diversity, environmental issues, and philosophical themes.

Issues that I would not have encountered or been exposed to in the bubble that was my world in the mid-1960s.

Mr.Spock was my favorite character; maybe that is why I was drawn to Buddhist philosophy and logic later in life. My Aunt called him “Cara Careta”, meaning he had a face like a mask. Maybe we all wear masks. But that is another subject to be explored.

I remember waiting in a long line at Macy’s in New York to meet Leonard Nimoy and buy Mr. Spock’s Music from Outer Space. I kept that album for a long time and still find myself quoting from it, “I am an Alien from Afar, so much like you and yet, so unalike…”

I even made my own tribbles because one of my favorite early episodes was “The Trouble with Tribbles.” I saw that one of those “Tribble” keychains is selling for 69.95 on eBay now.
