Last year, I finally retired for the 4th time! I had been working since I was 14 and was unsure whether I could finally let go and breathe. But I knew that on the last day of my job, I had to decide. People were relying on me. I had to give them an answer.
This has been a year of finding my new direction, creativity, and personal growth. Yes, I am still growing at 69. I started writing, blogging, and challenging myself. I started traveling more and paying closer attention to the world around me. I realized I had all these experiences I could express through short stories, poetry, memoirs, and art.
It is true what they say; you need to be prepared for retirement. It is not enough to be financially secure; you need to figure out what you are going to do with yourself after the game or two of golf or the obligatory cruise here and there. You have to be emotionally prepared to retire. What fills you?
