Exercise, Bah Humbug!

Daily writing prompt
How can you build a regular fitness routine?

Whether walking, running, hopping, skipping, twisting, or flipping, I find formal exercise extremely boring. Been there, done that. I can’t even tell you how many gym memberships I’ve canceled within the first month! How much money have I spent on home exercise equipment? Thousands of dollars! I’ve tried Tai Chi, Aikido, and aerobic classes. I’m just not coordinated! There’s a beautiful pool in my condo complex. If I go, I might swim back and forth 4 times, then float on my back like a dead log. “We all float down here.” As for bicycles, other than the English Racer I loved when I was 10, the one I rode back and forth from St. Nicholas Ave across 175th Street to Amsterdam Ave, I have developed an unreasonable phobia of bike riding. I even get nervous on stationary bikes. I tried Yoga. I’ve got the mat to prove it! It’s rolled up in my closet. Free weights, home-gym contraptions that took up most of my apartment space, vibration plates, and Wii-based exercise equipment were a waste of money. The most exercise I got out of all this was assembling, disassembling, and lugging the discarded equipment to Goodwill! What worked for me, and how I lost over a hundred pounds in my obese years, was dancing at the clubs. I would go clubbing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Loved dancing. Too old to go clubbing now. My aim is to make it to the couch while still keeping my weight down and steady.
