On December 6, 2024, I visited Highlands, North Carolina mountains. I spent the weekend attending Buddhist teachings on Emptiness from the Heart Sutra. As a Kadampa Buddhist, I often go on spiritual retreats. It always feels like living in a beautiful mandala. It is like visiting a Pure land, a place of rest and community. Our Hosts at the Mountain Retreat and Learning Center were fantastic. They were very hospitable. The food was delicious. I kept complimenting the cooks.

My friends Sandy and Mary joined me on the journey to the Mountain; the more, the merrier. We flew to Atlanta, Georgia, then rented a car to drive to The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center.

Wonderful Hosts The Mountain
It was very cold, but the crystal clear skies all weekend were perfect weather to enjoy the mountains.
There are many interpretations of emptiness, but for Buddhists, Emptiness is a significant and profound topic. It is actually the way to obtain full liberation from Samsara and obtain the Buddhist ultimate goal of Enlightenment.

Southern Kadampa Meditation Centers
We had teachers, Monks, and Nuns from all the southern region giving teachings and guiding our meditations.

Gen Norbu from South Carolina, Sandy, Mary, and I
After the retreat, we visited Downtown Atlanta, Georgia, on our way back to the airport. We stopped at a great Barbecue Restaurant, Fox Bros
