Remain Fluid

Daily writing prompt
What’s a promise you made to yourself that you’ve actually kept?

I promised myself I would stop making promises; life is fluid. As Heraclitus said: “A man cannot step into the same river twice, because it is not the same river, and he is not the same man.”

Life changes; I change. What remains constant is the compassion I have for others, who, like me, suffer being banged around in this life. No one really escapes the inevitable. Birth, sickness, and death, and all the nasty bits in between. If I can’t bend, I’ll break. I reserve the right to change my mind.
