Introducing Be Bad Betty: A Feisty Alter Ego

Introducing “Be Bad Betty,” my alter ego.

Introducing her on Bluesky as my feisty alter ego, Be Bad Betty, says it loudly and proudly. I wanted to catch people’s attention in a straightforward yet non-offending manner.

Be Bad Betty’s campaign encourages people to read and reread the old classics. Labeled banned books by the far right makes them endangered of disappearing from our public library shelves. I am grateful to all the librarians who are on the front lines defending our First Amendment rights: The Freedom of speech.

But that is not all Be Bad Betty has to say. She also has some things to say about American Jobs. This introduces her as concerned about taxing equality, anti-woke campaigns that try to dumb down Americans, and the war on science.

Introducing the fact that we can see the changes in our environments and climate and the depletion of our limited resources. We are all experiencing creepy rudeness, hatred, and intolerance. Our children are being traumatized by having to go through active shooter drills. The once reliable news reporting has gone the way of the tabloids: half-truths and outright lies.

I am trying to avoid the news, but it is impossible and irresponsible not to take a stand. These are volatile times, and things can go from bad to worse to disastrous at any moment. The worst thing I can do is do nothing, say nothing.

Introducing Be Bad Betty gave me an outlet for my thoughts, opinions, and encouragement of myself and others. We have to come together to defend our Democracy, which is under attack by internal terrorists.
